What it does

Rebuilds your entire photo as one continuous electron-microscope surface field — greyscale topography, microscopic texture, identity intact.

Electron Micrograph reimagines your photo as if it were placed under a real scanning electron microscope. Every surface — skin, hair, fabric, walls, the ground, distant objects — is rebuilt as magnified microscopic terrain, mapped in greyscale by surface height rather than color. The result feels scientific, intricate, and otherworldly, like a specimen field captured at extreme magnification. The transformation covers the entire frame, not just the subject. Skin becomes readable micro-textured terrain with pores and ridges, clothing turns into woven fiber fields with visible thread structure, and hair resolves into fine filament bundles. The background dissolves into continuous mineral, polymer, and cellular-like surfaces, so the whole image reads as one unbroken electron-microscope world. Identity is the priority. Even translated into microscopic topography, the face stays clearly readable as the same person — the same eyes, nose, lips, jawline, hairstyle outline, expression, and natural asymmetry. If several people appear in the photo, each is preserved separately, with no merging, swapping, or erasing of faces. Lighting comes from a directional electron beam, not the sun. High micro-contrast, soft secondary-electron shadows, and a delicate rim glow on specimen edges give the image its depth, while a shallow scientific depth of field keeps the subject crisp and lets distant surfaces soften naturally. The palette stays in authentic SEM monochrome — charcoal, graphite, silver, ash, and white electron highlights, with at most a restrained teal-grey or amber-grey wash. This is a precise scientific look, not a horror effect. There is no gore, no exposed anatomy, no X-ray transparency, no thermal heatmap, and no rainbow false color — just a clean, hypnotic micrograph that preserves your composition, pose, and likeness while translating the world into nanoscale detail.

When to use it

  • Striking, science-themed profile pictures and avatars with a microscopic twist
  • Otherworldly portrait art that still reads as clearly you
  • Lab, biotech, or research-themed posts, headers, and presentations
  • Editorial or poster visuals that need a technical, specimen-like aesthetic
  • Eye-catching prints and wall art built from greyscale microscopic texture
  • Distinctive cover images for science, education, or maker content

When not to use it

  • When you want natural skin tones and full-color realism kept intact
  • Medical or scientific accuracy — this is a stylized look, not a real SEM scan
  • Tiny, blurry, or very low-detail photos where there is little texture to translate
  • Anyone wanting a horror, gore, skeletal, or X-ray transparency effect

How it works

Upload a photo and the model treats your image as a strict master reference, keeping the composition, pose, framing, and likeness fixed. It then rebuilds every surface in the frame as magnified greyscale microscopic terrain — pores, fibers, crystalline grain, and pore lattices — lit by a directional electron beam with soft secondary-electron shadows and a shallow scientific depth of field. Faces are preserved through accurate surface structure so each person stays recognizable, and the whole scene resolves into one continuous monochrome micrograph in a few moments.

Frequently asked questions

Will I still be recognizable after the transformation?

Yes. Identity is the top priority, so your face is preserved through accurate microscopic surface structure. The same eyes, nose, lips, jawline, hairstyle outline, expression, and natural asymmetry stay readable, even though everything is rendered in greyscale topography.

Does it look like horror, gore, or an X-ray?

No. This is a clean scientific micrograph look, not a horror effect. There is no gore, no exposed anatomy, no skeleton, no X-ray transparency, and no thermal heatmap — just precise greyscale surface texture.

Does the whole image change, or only the subject?

The entire frame is transformed. Skin, hair, clothing, the ground, architecture, objects, and background all become continuous microscopic surfaces, so the image reads as one unbroken electron-microscope specimen field.

What kind of photo works best?

Sharp, well-lit photos with clear faces and a good range of texture give the richest result, because the SEM texture follows the real detail in your image. Very small, blurry, or flat photos have less information to translate.

Will it crop or change my framing?

No. Your original composition, pose, perspective, and framing are kept fixed. The model does not reframe, zoom out, or invent a new scene — it only translates the existing image into microscopic surfaces.

Can I use the result commercially?

Yes — generated images on upsa are yours to use for personal and commercial purposes. We recommend you keep the consent and rights to the source photo as well, since the output preserves the identity in it.

How long are my photos stored?

Source uploads and generated results are stored for 48 and then automatically deleted from upsa's storage. We don't train any model on your photos.

AI results vary

Each generation uses a different random seed, so your result may not exactly match the example shown. If the first try doesn't fit what you had in mind, run it again — output differs noticeably between runs.
