Upscale
Enlarge your photos 2×–3× with professional AI quality — same scene, more pixels; content preserved.

What it does
Sharpens detail and upscales resolution 2-3× with AI. Faces, textures, and edges come back crisp without re-imagining the photo.
When to use it
- When you don't want to change the photo, just enlarge it
- Printing a 12 MP phone photo at large size (poster, canvas, album spread)
- Increasing a social-media image to Retina / 4K display resolution
- Preparing stock, product, or real-estate photos for listings that require larger files
- Rescuing slightly soft or over-compressed JPEGs without altering the scene
- Enlarging scanned photos or documents for better legibility
When not to use it
- When you want to change composition or facial expression — use instead
- Very tiny or heavily blurred sources (< 0.2 MP) — use instead
- Frames extracted from low-quality video — Recreate handles these better
- Generating content that was not in the original photo (objects, backgrounds)
- Converting cartoons or illustrations — this model is tuned for photographs
How it works
A deep convolutional super-resolution model predicts the high-resolution version of each image region using learned priors from a large photographic dataset. Faces are routed through a specialised restoration path that reconstructs natural skin, eye, and hair detail. After the super-resolution pass, sharpening, denoising, and JPEG-artifact removal are applied at calibrated strengths. The entire pipeline runs on GPU infrastructure and returns a result in roughly 15 seconds for typical inputs.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Upscale and Recreate?
Upscale is built for photos that already look fine — it gives you a 2× or 3× enlargement with the original scene preserved pixel-for-pixel. Recreate is for tough sources (very small photos, blurry video frames) where there is not enough detail to preserve; it reconstructs the scene from scratch while staying faithful to the original.
How much bigger will my photo be?
The app automatically picks 2× or 3× depending on your source resolution, so the result is always within the model's clean-output range (up to 512 megapixels). A 12 MP phone photo typically comes out around 48 MP; a 2 MP social-media save can reach ~18 MP.
Does it change the faces or content?
No. Upscale preserves scene content. Faces are enhanced — eyes become crisper, skin texture more natural — but expression and identity stay the same. If you prefer a completely untouched face, turn the face enhancement down in app settings.
Does it work on old or damaged photos?
For mild age and light compression, yes. For heavily damaged scans, very low-resolution originals, or blurry video frames, use Recreate instead — it is designed for that.
Will the enhanced photo have a watermark?
No. upsa never watermarks or brands your output. The enhanced image is yours to save, print, and share.
Where are my photos stored?
Photos are processed temporarily and auto-deleted within 48 hours. We do not keep a copy, and we do not train models on your photos.
AI results vary
Each generation uses a different random seed, so your result may not exactly match the example shown. If the first try doesn't fit what you had in mind, run it again — output differs noticeably between runs.
