Risograph Print
The handmade charm of an analog print run, from a single photo.

What it does
Reimagines your photo as an authentic vintage risograph print -- bold flat color, layered halftone dots, ink misregistration and the soft grain of textured paper.
When to use it
- Poster and flyer art with a bold, printed-by-hand look
- Zine spreads, album covers and editorial illustration
- Portraits restyled with flat color and halftone texture
- Social graphics that need a tactile, analog feel
- Band and event promo art with a retro print aesthetic
- Merch and sticker designs built on a limited ink palette
When not to use it
- Photos that need to stay sharp, clean and photorealistic
- Images where exact, true-to-life color is important
- Fine detail that would be lost in the halftone dot grid
- Work that needs smooth gradients or a polished digital finish
How it works
The model reads your photo's shapes, tones and color regions, then rebuilds them as a layered ink print. Tonal range is converted into a halftone dot pattern -- large dots for shadows, fine dots for highlights -- and the colors are reduced to a small risograph palette. A subtle drift is added between the ink layers to recreate misregistration, along with paper grain, speckles and the soft edges of an analog scan, all while keeping your original framing fully intact.

Frequently asked questions
Will my subject still look like themselves?
Yes. The model keeps the shapes, proportions and composition of your photo and only restyles the surface. Faces and objects stay recognizable -- they just take on flat color, halftone texture and the slight imperfection of a real print.
How many ink colors does the print use?
At most four, drawn from a classic risograph set -- fluorescent pink, red, yellow, teal, cobalt blue, black and forest green. Those layers overlap to create extra tones, the same way an actual risograph mixes color.
Why does the print look slightly misaligned and grainy?
That's intentional. A risograph prints one ink layer at a time, so layers never line up perfectly. The model recreates that misregistration, plus halftone dots, ink speckles and paper grain, to make the result feel genuinely handmade rather than digital.
What kind of photo works best?
Images with clear shapes and a good range between light and dark areas. Strong contrast gives the halftone dots room to vary, while very flat or very busy photos can lose definition in the dot pattern.
Will it crop or reframe my photo?
No. Your framing, crop, subject scale and perspective are preserved, and the artwork runs edge to edge with no white border or print margin -- you get a clean full-bleed image at the original composition.
Can I use the result commercially?
Yes -- generated images on upsa are yours to use for personal and commercial purposes. We recommend you keep the consent and rights to the source photo as well, since the output preserves the identity in it.
How long are my photos stored?
Source uploads and generated results are stored for 48 and then automatically deleted from upsa's storage. We don't train any model on your photos.
AI results vary
Each generation uses a different random seed, so your result may not exactly match the example shown. If the first try doesn't fit what you had in mind, run it again — output differs noticeably between runs.
